What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on helping children develop the skills they need to grow into functional, independent adults. Through meaningful activity & play, occupational therapists assist children with physical, cognitive, and social emotional needs. Treatment can range from engaging the child in fun activities to assist with coordination to assisting caregivers in better meeting the needs of their child.
At DreamCatcher's we "play" in a fun, positive way to get children involved and motivated!
Occupational Therapy (OT) can facilitate improvements in areas including:
-Independence with activities of daily living skills ( dressing, feeding, hygiene, sleep, play and executive functions skills). Fine Motor Skills. Balance and Coordination. Strengthening (muscle tone, head,/neck/ruck control and posture). Visual Skills (scanning, locating objects, and processing visual information). Sensory Integration Skills (Processing and Regulation). Social and safety skills.
-DreamCatchers recognizes the vital role that family & caregivers play in the well-being of children. Subsequently all treatment plans are family centered and incorporate the child's interests.
